Applications are being received by the Centre for Distance Learning (OAUCDL) of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) into three full-degree e-Learning programs for its 2015/2016 academic session.
Speaking with newsmen, the OAUCDL Director, Professor Michael Adeyeye, said program which started in April 2014, provides an unlimited opportunity all Nigerians to study and work at the same time.

"We are excited about the success of this programme, which opens up opportunities for everybody to go to school, ranging from the worker who wants to further his studies whilst still retaining his job, to students who are qualified for admission, but are denied due to space constraints," Adeyeye said.
"We are not limited by space or location and we have students from different states in Nigeria."

The don noted that the e-Learning system is the only way to cover up the admission shortfall at the tertiary level.

"The existing higher institutions can only admit one-third of degree seeking Nigerians.
"E-Learning, therefore, is the way of the future."
Early this year, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Bamitale Omole, assured the programmes pioneer students that it is equal in terms of lecture delivery and the certificates that will be issued completion.

"I want to assure you that your distant learning mode of admission does not in any way imply inferiority in status, compared to our conventional students, either in terms of lecture delivery or the certificates you receive at the end of your programmes," Omole had said during the maiden matriculation of the programme.
