Nigerians won’t welcome us if we don’t win Olympic Gold – Siasia

Head coach of Nigeria’s U-23 team, Samson Siasia, has admitted that Nigerians will not be interested, if they don’t come back with Gold from next month’s Olympics. Siasia and his boys are currently in the United States of America, where they are preparing for the competition.
“It is not going to be a walk in the park (to win Olympic Gold). It is going to be a very difficult task. But the thing is that anything short of Olympic gold is nothing because nobody will even come and welcome us when we come back without the gold,” he said.

“So, it is a difficult one. But we will do the best that we can so far these players (confirmed foreign-based stars) are coming. We will know exactly how we are playing and what will come out from the players we have.”
Nigeria, who are the current African U-23 champions, have been drawn against Japan, Sweden and Colombia in the group stages.
