Emmanuel Emenike’s Nigeria place under threat

Emenike’s Nigeria spot under threat
The Al Ain forward could lose his starting role in the Super Eagles following his uninspiring displays for the national team
Emmanuel Emenike’s role as Nigeria’s first-choice forward is under threat, Goal has gathered.
The 28-year-old who boasts of 39 international caps for the country aside from failing to score for the Eagles since October 2014, failed to impress in Nigeria’s recent international friendlies against DR Congo and Cameroon.
And he could lose his starting role to in-form Watford forward Odion Ighalo in next month’s 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Swaziland.
“Oliseh is disappointed Emenike has not justified the confidence he has in him," a top source close to the team said.
“He has been given his chance by the coach, who is now seriously considering Odion Ighalo to lead his attack against Swaziland next month.”
The former Spartak Moscow player last scored for Nigeria in the Fifa 2014 World Cup playoff against Ethiopia in October 2013.

Swaziland advanced to the second round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers on Saturday where they will face Nigeria after trouncing Djibouti 8-1 on aggregate.
The King’s Shield will hope to beat the Super Eagles over two legs in mid-November to determine which side will reach the final qualifying group phase.
